Enjoy fresh produce in the 8 best farmers’ markets in Johannesburg!

I make it a point to shop at farmers’ markets. I’m assured the produce is fresh and organic, and it feels great to strike up conversations with local farmers.

The vibe here is always festive, with Irish folk groups setting the mood as you browse stalls filled with classy coats, silk scarves, and leather belts.

While picking up fresh veggies for a salad here, I came across a stall selling an old-school wooden rocking horse, complete with stirrups and a saddle. I couldn’t resist buying it, knowing my little ones would love it. Now, it’s their favourite toy at home!

I popped by to buy my wife some jewellery but got completely sidetracked by a stall selling wood-fired pizza. One bite and I forgot all about the jewellery—I walked out with a whole box of pizza instead! Safe to say, I had some explaining to do when I got home.

I come here often for the exotic spices and herbs. They take my cooking up a notch. The cumin, cardamom, and coriander I bought last time were top quality, and my wife was seriously impressed with the flavours in my dishes.

I picked up my favourite duffel bag here from a stall called Linden is Enough. Made from full-grain leather, it’s durable and only gets better with time. As I use it, the leather develops a rich patina that gives it a timeless, vintage look.
