When you get there, it’s easy to see why it’s named God’s Window. 

From the moment you set foot on this elevated paradise, the breathtaking panoramic view will make you believe it was crafted by God himself. The whole place is filled with natural beauty and fresh air, it’s as if you’re in the promised land. 

This is also why locals call it the Garden of Eden. This hotspot features stunning aerial perspective of the surrounding landscape from an altitude of 1,737 metres or 5,699 feet above sea level!

How much is the entrance fee at God’s Window?

The entrance fee at God’s Window is R 25 per adult and R 15 per child. Also, take note that they only accept cash, so come prepared.

How long is the walk to God’s Window?

The walk to God’s Window’s farthest lookout takes about 15-30 minutes, which includes going through a small rain forest.

Take note that this trail is composed of about 300 steps and is mostly uphill, so get ready for some cardio.

The viewpoint at God’s Window is actually much closer to the bottom, almost on the same level as the parking lot, and is around 50 – 60 metres away. On average, it’ll take you about 10 minutes to reach the first lookout.

The cherry on top? The Blyde River Canyon, located nearby, is the third-largest canyon globally, with striking red sandstone formations that will leave you spellbound.

Reaching God’s Window’s viewpoint requires a bit of a hike so we really recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for the outdoors.

2. Come prepared.

We advise packing extra water and snacks to keep hydrated and energised, especially because the climb to God’s Window might be challenging. The products at the shop by the gate are quite expensive too, so it’s better to bring your own supplies.

3. Schedule your visit.

The road leading up to God’s Window might be tricky to drive on when it’s raining. The best thing to do is plan ahead and check the weather conditions beforehand. 

We also suggest scheduling during off-peak periods to avoid crowds.

4. Try to get there first thing in the morning.

You’re not the only one thrilled to see this renowned attraction, which is why God’s Window can be crowded later in the day. We suggest arriving early in the morning, which is just perfect as there’s no better spot to catch the sunrise than this viewpoint.

5. Be responsible.

God’s Window is located within a nature reserve, thus patrons are advised to preserve the natural landscape. Unfortunately, many careless tourists discard their face masks, hair bands, etc. on the fences. 

Make sure to take your trash with you to avoid littering and endangering the environment.
